The mysteries and power of certain events that rule our lives have again taken charge. It has nothing to do with us having control, as these seemingly random events directly impact our daily existence. When they happen, we are taken elsewhere than where we were, and what was expected is no more. The examples of this are numerous, leaving me wondering about the many events which, while out of our control, nevertheless have influenced our very existence.
I have mentioned a few of these experiences in my writing, but there are so many more that I can fill a book. I often feel like a pawn being moved on the board of life by hands I cannot know. I may fight the bully and bigot, but not the mysteries that move me like a chess piece. I understand that “events” often dictate, and recent events are no exception.
Lenette and I are moving to a Full Care facility so Lenette can be given as much care as needed. The place we live in has been our home since moving out of our condo, and we have been very happy here. Living with other seniors has been a delight and a “learning experience.” Never having lived near or with seniors and spending much of our adult life with youth and professionals, we were ill-prepared for the experience, but it still turned out well.
We are now entering a stage that we never expected to reach. We are as old as only a few get to be. But we are there and must accept what this means. Another chapter, and for us, more serendipitous. I intend to keep you posted as long as I am able. I love to write, and I love the one-page form. And I enjoy the challenge of making my writing coherent—the same for how I use the Haiku form. Getting to the point or solution is my style.
What also will happen is that I will be writing Lenette’s and my last wishes. We are giving this time and discussion and will come to what we feel comfortable with. Maybe not for a few more years?
